   SOUTHBURY DEMOCRATS ENDORSE

CHRIS DODD FOR PRESIDENT

Democratic Town Committee votes to make formal endorsement

SOUTHBURY, CT – The Dodd for President campaign is proud to announce that the Southbury Democratic Town Committee voted unanimously at its April meeting to endorse Senator Chris Dodd in his campaign to become President of the United States.  The meeting was held Wednesday, April 18.

“The early and enthusiastic support I have received from the people of Connecticut is going to make the difference in my campaign,” said Dodd.  “I am honored by this strong showing of support from the Southbury Democrats, and I look forward to working with them to bring new leadership to the White House.”

Southbury Democratic Town Chair Ed Edelson also gave his personal endorsement to Dodd.  “Senator Dodd has a proven record of leadership and accomplishment,” said Edelson.  “He listens to the people of Connecticut, and he takes action to get things done.  We need the kind of leadership, integrity and experience Chris Dodd will bring to the Presidency.  There is no doubt that Chris Dodd is the best candidate to lead our party and our nation, and we are proud to give him our support.”

The Southbury Democratic Town Committee joins a growing list of such committees to formally endorse Dodd’s candidacy for President.  “With nine months to go before the first votes are cast in Iowa and New Hampshire, Connecticut Democrats are already making their commitment to Chris Dodd’s campaign official,” said Beneva Schulte, Communications Director for the Dodd campaign.  “It is exciting to have the people of Connecticut, those who know Chris Dodd best, showing such strong support for his campaign.”

Southbury Democrats Contribute Southbury’s Needy

On Thursday, November 30, 2006 Ed Edelson, vice-chair of the Southbury Democratic Club presented four checks to Sandy Saren, Director of Social Services for the Town of Southbury.

The checks are for the Southbury Needy Fund, Southbury Food Bank, Southbury Fuel Bank and to the Community Fund.  “In addition to supporting qualified candidates for local, state and national elected positions, Southbury Democrats recognize the importance of supporting those who are in need.  Each of these organizations provides an essential service to residents throughout the town and it is all based on community support, whether it is money, food or toys”, noted Ed.

The motion to make the contribution was made at the November meeting of the Democratic Town Committee by former chair Vince DiCara and was carried by unanimous vote.
