For a Better Southbury
In almost
two decades in Southbury I have seen tremendous growth. In many
respects we have barely been a step ahead of the rate of
growth. Nowhere is this more apparent than in our schools.
This community has worked hard to build an excellent school
district and we have a responsibility to our children to
continue this high standard. We also have a responsibility as
stewards of this town to preserve our education system as a
major asset. We cannot allow a bit by bit dismantling of our
schools curriculum, buildings or staff. Only an excellent
education will prepare students for tomorrow’s challenges. “I
am not just a parent of two school aged children, but also a
citizen and tax payer in Southbury. Elected officials are
responsible for balancing the needs of its growing citizenry,
and this can be a difficult task. But we must not allow the
educational system to bear the brunt of this struggle. It is my
intention to preserve our educational system and quality of life
through strategic planning, open communication and a long range
vision for our school district.” |
